1st Generation Avensis

[edit]

Was this similar to any model in Japan? I'm really confused here - I thought it was pretty much the same as the Corona of that time but with a different nose (like what was done to the Corolla sold in Europe/Australia too),l but I can't find pictures or info... --Zilog Jones 21:55, 18 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Im confused too, Im sure the first generation Avensis had "Corona Avensis" on the back (just like the Corolla Tercel).

- The 1st generation Avensis (T220) had siblings Corona Premio and Carina T210; they were mechanically identical (albeit the 1.8 engine was 7A-FE only, no 1ZZ-FE), but exterior was quite different "angular" shape. The wagon version was Caldina, which looked exactly as Avensis Wagon, with only rear optics different. And there was no hatchback variant (previously available Corona SF hatchback stopped production in 1995). Bolkhov 10:12, 23 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Some missing information

[edit]

At first, there were only saloon and litfback, estate was one year later. Turbodiesel engine wasn't available at first too, but after a year. I don't know, whether this information is not mentioned because of lack of knowledge, or maybe it isn't essential, so I'm not adding it. Piotrek91 18:30, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So are these details world-wide

[edit]

ie, if I buy one in Australia, was it manufactured in England?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.206.166.20 (talk) 06:06, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, they are only made in England as its cheaper to import them than to build new factories.(82.3.43.98 (talk) 19:24, 15 March 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Third generation facelift

[edit]

There should be added some info about this. Marskuzz (talk) 11:50, 21 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

You can either add the information yourself or you can put a reference on this talk page. Other editors can then modify/insert it in the article as needed.  Stepho  talk  04:19, 22 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Acceptable sources for power figures?

[edit]

What sources are acceptable for power figures? According to the article the 4A-FE engine in the Avensis has 75 kW, but this source http://catalog.meca.no/CarSelect.aspx?CarReference_ID=5703&CategoryType_ID=1 states that this specific 2000 Avensis has 81 kW. I looked up several other Avensises equipped with this engine (found on the largest norwegian online car marketplace) and every one of them had 81 kW. This information is from a car parts shop which gets its information from the official norwegian car registry. Would this be a reliable source, or would I have to find a Toyota source such as a manual that came with a car? PerDaniel (talk) 11:12, 17 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

2011/2012 facelift

[edit]

Does anybody know if the facelift occurred in August 2011 or January 2012? There has been edit warring on this with an anon-IP but there is no reference for either date.  Stepho  talk  02:43, 25 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I found references for Jan 2012 intro and have added them to the article.  Stepho  talk  20:06, 26 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
