Why I don't contribute to Wiki anymore

[edit]

This is why I don't contribute to wikipedia. Capitalism doesn't have anything to do with cronyism. It's term made up by socialists to slander capitalists. Remove it. 99.97.211.88 (talk) 17:28, 2 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Two points here. If your criticism were true, it would still be on-topic for wikipedia to have an article on a term in common usage in political discourse. See for example Trickle-down economics for another article on a pejorative term used in political discourse, which covers the history and usage of the term, and includes a critique of the term itself from the right wing, by Thomas Sowell. Secondly, it's actually generally the case that the term "Crony Capitalism" is used more often in right-wing political discourse than left-wing, it's generally an liberal/libertarian criticism of state-interventionism and regulatory capture, rather than a critique of capitalism itself (the term is often used in contrast to "capitalism", that is to say "I'm for capitalism, but against crony capitalism".
I don't know if you will read this response, as you are an IP user, but I hope that you will reconsider your contributions to wikipedia, and perhaps create an account! And if you are aware of critiques of the term Crony Capitalism from WP:Reliable Sources, then you should add them to this article!
(and this, of course, applies to anyone else who may stumble on this talk page) --Tomatoswoop (talk) 02:31, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
