I found some interesting information about the Emeryville Shellmound on the Olympia Oyster page. I am, unfortunately, not skilled enough to integrate it into this page, so this is just my little pointer. MDCore 17:58, 25 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Thanks for the tip, that page is now pointed to by a new ==See also== section. Leonard G. 06:15, 11 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Picture request

[edit]

Need pictures of the Emeryville Mudflat art. Can you contribute (these will be old - 1960, 70, 80) -- Leonard G. 04:24, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)

Some of this stuff is still up. I can go take pictures of it as I live in Emeryville. - Zepheus (ツィフィアス) 06:50, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also, that main image is basically impossible to see. I want to see if I can get a better one of Emeryville. - Zepheus (ツィフィアス) 16:35, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I concur that photo is terrible. It looks like a vidcap from a home video shot as one was flying out of SFO or something. We definitely need a better photo of the skyline, though I have no idea where you can get one. Taking a photo from Treasure Island in the afternoon facing towards Emeryville might work. --Coolcaesar 16:57, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I'm trying to think about places to get the shot from. There are those tall apartments that are in the city that might give a nice shot. Or maybe I should get my helicopter out of storage and go for a spin. Wouldn't that be sweet? - Zepheus (ツィフィアス) 17:20, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just removed the main image because of its poor quality. I'd rather have no main image that a poor one. There are at least other pictures on the page to make up for this one missing. - Zepheus (ツィフィアス) 20:20, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Possible Historical Subject

[edit]

Does anybody remember anything about the past Emeryville Police Chief that drove around in a Delorean DMC-12? He would 'facilitate' doing business in Emeryville. This was when the Townhouse Restaurant was a country-western bar. The Chief would hold court in one of the back booths.

As I remember it, he disappeared without a trace.

This would make a good history story. Something that the present Emeryville promoters may not be keen on seeing in print.

It was big news in the early 1980's.

I added a section about E-ville's "colorful past" before I read your comments. You can bet your sweet ass that those booster and C-of-C types will positively hate any such stuff here. Tough shit.
My take: Emeryville of old was all about whoring, as it is today. Only difference is that yesterday's was a good-hearted hooker, while today's is a money-grubbing, dot-comming, blood-sucking yuppie scum real estate developer. You know the type.
I honestly don't know much more about that "colorful past" but would like to; will stay tuned here. ==ILike2BeAnonymous 06:45, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

History section

[edit]

The History section needs cleaning. It seems to jump forward and backward through time a bit, needs subheadings as it's getting quite long, and needs references. It has some external links embedded which could be turned into citeweb references. - Zepheus <ツィフィアス> 21:35, 25 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Importance

[edit]

Is Emeryville mainly important because it is at the intersection of the 80, 580, and 880, Berkeley, Oakland, and San Francisco, or are there other reasons? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:640:4000:8CD0:F180:BBC8:CDF3:9894 (talk) 19:27, 21 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Possible history and current state

[edit]

Partly due to it's low residential but high daytime population and industrial nature, Emeryville still has a ridiculously high crime rate, mostly property crime, which is about 10x the national average. Violent crime is only double the national average, which is only moderate for an urban area. The 80s anecdotes above have been removed, as well as the mention of 21st century crime, despite ranking as a 0/100 safety score for serveral years in a row.
