"It is rectangular and extends 16.5 metres (54 ft) to each side of the goal" <- i'm not sure about this. other sources say the total width of the area is actually around 40 meters, for example, the 'association football pitch' wiki page. does anyone know for sure what the actual official width of the area is, if there is any strict rule on this? Merger

[edit]

The article appears to relate to one small section of a larger article and could easily be merged in to the main article.--Lucy-marie (talk) 15:58, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Picture

[edit]

The picture used in the "function" section should be replaced. You can barely see the lines on that picture, all I could see without zooming in was a green picture (at least on mobile) 2804:7F2:5A4:CA2F:B8DE:D471:3A1F:2CBC (talk) 22:26, 3 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Is the line itself inside or outside the penalty box?

[edit]

I believe it is the case that a ball that overlaps the penalty box line (even a little) is considered inside the penalty box. If so or if not, please modify the article accordingly. —Quantling (talk | contribs) 21:26, 21 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I've edited the article. If you have an applicable reference, it would be much appreciated. —Quantling (talk | contribs) 14:01, 22 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
