Illness

[edit]

Hello, Not sure if it should be added to the article, personal life section for example, but on 17 June 2011 it was reported (on Channel 7 news) that Bert Newton was "seriouslly ill" and had been admitted to hospital with pneumonia, which he apparently contracted from his grand-daughter. Should I add it? CBJVS (talk) 07:22, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Folding IMT into the Don Lane Show is wrong

[edit]

In my very humble opinion, Newton's work on IMT with Kennedy deserves much better than just folding it all into "Graham Kennedy & Don Lane". These were totally different and distinct phases in his career.

Oh, and Stuart mcmillen "I added Bert to the List of toupee wearers, as he is well-known to wear a toupee". UTTERLY WRONG. Bert didn't wear a toupee. He DID have a hair transplant, and joked about it several million times on TV and radio.

Mike Hamilton

Moonface was labelled by Don Lane. It's well documented.

I am currently testing an automated Wikipedia link suggester. Ran it on this article, here are the results:

  • Can link Australian television: ...g-running shows since the early days of Australian television in 1959....
  • Can link Australian films: ...n actor and has appeared in a number of Australian films and television dramas....

Notes: The article text has not been changed in any way; Some of these links may be wrong, some may be right; You can leave positive feedback or negative feedback; Please feel free to delete this section from the talk page. -- Nickj 08:37, 19 Oct 2004 (UTC)

"I like the boy"

[edit]

Is there any merit in adding some notable things such as when Bert referred to, IIRC, Muhammed Ali, as "the boy"? Confusing Manifestation 13:34, 20 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

"Bert Photo"

[edit]

Can we update the photo of Bert Newton its at least 2 years out of date if not more. Mike 04:51, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

The prob I had was it was already there and you addition is/was POV and not needed it was fine as it was. - Mike Beckham 03:43, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Toupee

[edit]

I added Bert to the List of toupee wearers, as he is well-known to wear a toupee, often including it (or mention of it) in his comedy routines. Stuart mcmillen 01:49, 23 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Australian equivalent of the Emmies

[edit]

Do the Emmies (is it spelled that way?) need to be mentioned here? If an American actor wins an Emmy, does his Wikipedia entry say that the Emmies are the US equivalent of the Logies? Can this be taken out?

Television career

[edit]

I'm trying to restructure this but this section is seriously lacking citations and any sort of dates...it would be easier to structure in some sort of chronological order. Michellecrisp 12:45, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Structure

[edit]

This page reads too much like a "This is your life" special. We should turn it into more of a proper encyclopedia article --Coin945 (talk) 15:22, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. It should be made into a more proper article, rather than this list of shows he has done. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Yellow sock (talkcontribs) 03:30, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I found the information on Bert Newton very interesting. But I do have one thing to say. There was no mention about all the good work that Bert has done for a number of up and coming stars. I can't tell you their names or how many there were. But Bert has done an awful lot of work in this area. Not to mention all the charity work he has done. I think that this needs to be mentioned as well. Mr Newton if you ever read this, I wanted you to know that we do see the other things that you have done and we appreciate them.

Where are the sources

[edit]

There are very few sources used in this article. The article should also be trimmed quite a lot to bring it in line with the biographies of living persons rules.Merphee (talk) 01:35, 28 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
