From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Face it, we all like getting recognition for what we do. So here's what I've done. Enjoy!

Pages I've originated or rewritten from scratch

[edit]

A deliberately eclectic collection. I started these pages and in most cases wrote at least a couple paragraphs of information. While some of them are now substantially rewritten by others, I still watch all of them and contribute occasionally.

Some other pages to which I've contributed significantly

(not a complete list):

A few favorite contributions

[edit]

A few additions and edits which, while not necessarilly major, I'm particularly pleased with.

  • Curt Schilling - added a professional baseball player's contributions to the gaming world. This sort of connection is what makes Wikipedia so cool.
  • William Lowell Putnam Mathematical Competition - tracking down which Putnam Fellows should have articles, and which ones already have them, and adding the appropriate links (still working on this.) I've written articles for a couple of them that seemed especially deserving. Many of them are currently professors at various universities. It's a fun project - sort of a "where are they now" thing :-)
  • Tadatoshi Akiba - I was tracking down former Ph.D. students of the mathematician John Milnor, and I find... the mayor of Hiroshima? How cool is that? I just had to write an article on this mathematician turned politician.
  • Academia - I have made precisely zero edits to this article. The contribution I'm proud of is nominating it for article of the week. It was one of the few articles to go all the way from stub to being a featured article.
