This article clears up why James Mcpherson describes Jefferson Davis as Taylor's "former son-in-law" in Battle Cry Freedom--thanks:). --CMacD Why did her father not approve of the marriage between her and Jefferson Davis--216.7.248.254 20:35, 27 April 2006 (UTC) she was to young to marry... davis was transfered....the 16 year old sarah ran away to davis...and waited until she was old enouge to marry davis.. her parents did not attend her wedding ..[reply]

Taylor or Davis

[edit]

Did Sarah Knox Taylor marry Davis? If so, did she take his name? If she took his name, why is the article not under her married name? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.139.123.126 (talk) 19:14, 30 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

They were married such a short time that she was probably not generally referred to by her married name.Parkwells (talk) 14:32, 28 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Dates

[edit]

Her birthdate is given as March 6, 1814.

A statement is made in the article, without citation, that March 6, 2013 was designated as a day in her honor in Prairie du Chien. I have been unable to find any verification of this, but since that's the 199th anniversary of her birth - and such occasions are usually marked on even dates (such as the 200th anniversary), I have doubts whether the uncredited statement is 100% accurate.
