Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:Rfp)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Vandalism and Disruptive editing. Lahsim Niasoh (talk) 16:53, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Lahsim Niasoh can you show diffs of what’s vandalism and disruptive editing? – robertsky (talk) 08:36, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think Vandalism is happening on this article but I can't tell you difference between Vandalism and Disruptive editing, Sorry for that. Could you please give me links so that I can learn more about it. Lahsim Niasoh (talk) 08:48, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Lahsim Niasoh you can look through the edit history of the article by clicking on ‘View history’, and then go through each contribution. If there are contributions that are of vandalism or disruptive in nature, you can paste the link to it here. You can read more on how diffs work at HELP:DIFF. Please do so soon before this report gets too dated. The recent edits may be more productive than disruptive. – robertsky (talk) 08:54, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Lahsim Niasoh some of them are old (19 July links?) or content related changes made on good faith (I.e. the removal of unsourced content or discriptor of it being anti-government protest). For the former, there’s no action required. For the latter, use the article’s talk page for further discussion.
Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. – robertsky (talk) 09:23, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Violations of the biographies of living persons policy. Persistent disruptive editing from a user attempting to insert substantial WP:OR based on their interpretation of WP:PRIMARY sources. Editor has engaged in an edit war despite being warned about 3RR. Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Persistent writing credits vandalism - same with The Terminator. CRBoyer 04:32, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended-confirmed protection as an WP:ECR Arbitration enforcement action in the WP:ARBPIA topic area; IPs and newer accounts have recently been making major content changes on this article pertaining to the Arab-Israeli conflict. Left guide (talk) 05:29, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protected for a period of 1 year, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. there are content not related to PIA, therefore setting protection to 1 year instead of indef. Revisit if the issue crops up after protection lapses. – robertsky (talk) 10:11, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Someone is repeatedly adding a link to unofficial website in this Wiki Article. It is recommended to restrict edits.

In spite of blocking the IP address (as per the last protection request), the unofficial website was again added. Clearly, just blocking IP isn't enough.

Please protect the page. Thanks. Samuel Johnson (talk) 05:40, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@SamuelJohnson how do you that it is an unofficial website? – robertsky (talk) 10:17, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Tried requesting page protection before but got denied but still persistent ongoing disruptive editing from the same IP range. Unexplained removal of sourced content. Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

In "Early life and education", the article says "In 2003 she enrolled at the University of Mississippi". The source for that paragraph as archived (https://archive.ph/ek0sE) states that she "dropped out for good in 2001".

I suggest changing "In 2003 she enrolled..." to something like "She enrolled at the University of Mississippi, studying journalism and political science and writing for The Daily Mississippian, but left the school in 2001." Or of course, add a source for her enrolling in 2003. Elizabeth Internet (talk) 06:56, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

To add a section with the template {{edit protected}}: To add "Hong Kong since 27 July 2024" to the first paragraph of the article, based on the following sources: [15] [16] [17] [18] [19] [20]. 119.237.212.104 (talk) 14:53, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Change the expression ‘ceded to the British Empire’ to ‘ceded to Great Britain’. Gazmoore2 (talk) 06:11, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done – Please use an edit request to request specific changes to be made to the protected page. Talk:Sri Lanka is not protected. Favonian (talk) 08:18, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
