Who's the president?

[edit]

Misterrick writes (in an edit summary): "Donald Trump is not President of TCHR Nor Has He Ever Been. He Has Only Been Chairman & CEO". The company's most recent 10-K, filed with the SEC less than two weeks ago and available online through EDGAR, identifies Scott Butera as President ([1], in Part III), but in the Sarbanes-Oxley Act certification for the filiing, Trump signs himself as "Chief Executive Officer and President of Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts, Inc." [2]

News reports are also conflicting. Last October, the Las Vegas Sun reported that Scott Butera had been named President. [3] Thereafter, however, this article from January 28, 2005 said Butera was still the company's Executive Vice President. A yet more recent news story, however, from March 28, calls him the President. That's more recent but still not so recent as the 10-K.

As a result of one of Misterrick's other edits, the article now links to http://www.trumpcasinos.com/ as the corporate website. According to that site, Trump is President ([4]). I think this site was what I relied on when I created the article with the statement that Trump was President. The site appears not to have been updated lately.

Given the ambiguity that the company itself has created, I think we're better off just omitting the point. We all know that there's no doubt who's really in charge, anyway. Most readers won't care who holds the title of President. Scott Butera's name is a red link right now; if at some point we have an article about him, we can work out what exact title he holds.

In looking at the 10-K, I saw that the correct corporate name is "Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts", with an ampersand instead of the word "and", so on authority of that reference I'm restoring the ampersand. JamesMLane 17:50, 11 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I moved the page from Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts to Trump Entertainment Resorts per the name change following emerging from Bankruptcy protection. Misterrick, 03:26, 16 May 2005 (UTC).[reply]

RE: Who's the president?

[edit]

There is / was a company wide reorganization. It looks like things are finally falling into place so we should have more (correct) info soon.

Rewrite Needed

[edit]

The second paragraph of this article (originally written by User:B4) needs to be rewritten in a commonly acceptable form of "English"... Stevenmitchell (talk) 13:17, 13 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Reworked the first part but much needs to be done. Recent history is inaccurate, Icahn lost his bid for the property and it went to the Avenue group. Needs background from the 80s about the creation of the casinos. Also, needs refs on his licensing agreement. Work in progress. Njsamizdat (talk) 18:43, 28 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Now Defunct??

[edit]

Is the company now defunct since it no longer owns any casino or hotel properties? If so shouldn't it then be put in the past tense of was instead of is? YborCityJohn (talk) 00:03, 25 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Ok since there were no comments or clarification I am putting the company in the past tense, since as I stated before they no longer have any assets and no longer actually have offices because the building they were headquartered in has since been sold. Ownership before THCR

[edit]

Prior to the formation of THCR, the article just says Trump owned the properties. Does this mean that Donald Trump personally had his name on the deed as the owner of the property? Or was it the Trump Organization? What organization operated the business before THCR? ````
