Yes, welcome to the 'pedia. Your interest in Newtown is explained by your resume. Arno 07:58 10 Jun 2003 (UTC)

Thanks both. Yep, I wanted to fill out Newtown and surrounds with some info. I might take some pictures of Newtown, Sydney Uni and Pyrmont for upload. What's the feeling on promiscuously adding images to articles? -- Tarka

No policy restricting pictures on this site exists that I am aware of, aside from ensuring that there are no copyright problems - which does not seem to apply here.
My own feeling is that one should not to go overboard with images - as they can be distracting to an article. Arno 11:32 13 Jun 2003 (UTC)
Yep, my thoughts are to pick one good image that 'captures' Newtown on the page, and then stick any other good ones on an 'Images of Newtown' page. Tarka 03:43 14 Jun 2003 (UTC)

G'day Tarka. Do you have any idea how many crest images there are in Wikipedia? See Wikipedia:Image use policy under "image titles".-- Tim Starling 07:45 17 Jun 2003 (UTC)

I forgot to say: there's no way to rename an image, so you've just got to re-upload it and list the old one on Wikipedia:Votes for deletion. -- Tim Starling 07:49 17 Jun 2003 (UTC)

Thanks Do you want me to delete the original, while I'm hanging around? -- Tim Starling

I've stuck it on the deletion page, although if you could check I've done it the right way that would be appreciated; I think I made a hash of it :) -- Tarka

PS. Thanks for the help Tim, I'm still finding my way around things. -- Tarka 08:09 17 Jun 2003 (UTC)

No problem, it's all fixed now. I hope I don't get accused of blatant abuse of sysop rights :) Did you see what happened with Zoe recently when she didn't wait a week? Anyway, it's time for me to go home and have dinner. CYA. -- Tim Starling 08:21 17 Jun 2003 (UTC)
All-right for some; I just got back from a military range in the Mornington peninsula. Nice weather you're having down there :) But I start at Sydney University next week; it'll be a nice change of pace.
What's the story with Zoe anyway, she seems to wind everyone up? Tarka 03:59 20 Jun 2003 (UTC)
No, others excel at that. Some of these have been banned, others ought to be. Arno 05:03 22 Jun 2003 (UTC)
Actually, one such banned user seems to have scared Zoe away by a series of off-color edits to user pages. Arno 07:49 24 Jun 2003 (UTC)

Tarka, what do you think about Cecropia's nominations for adminship? Get-back-world-respect 14:02, 1 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Want to join? I'm still formulating policy. Besides which, you live in Newtown - you could contribute to the suburbs page! And you go to Sydney Uni... maybe something on this :-) Interested? Incidently, there is a message board Wikipedia:Australian wikipedians' notice board - Ta bu shi da yu 06:09, 23 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:SydneyUniversityCrest.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:SydneyUniversityCrest.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 06:26, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:SydneyUniversityCrest.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:SydneyUniversityCrest.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:03, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
