Reconquista infobox

[edit]

Thankyou for leaving a comment on my talk page. The reason I removed the infobox—besides my general dislike of infoboxes—is that the Reconquista is far too complex to be dealt with as if it were a war. It has no definite beginning, even though it has a definite end. Furthermore, the idealogy of "Reconquista" was fluid and changing and not all events which saw land under Moslem domination fall into Christian hands can be described as "Reconquista" events, while many non-military activities also led to the extension of Christian rule over lands which had ceased to be Christian-ruled. I will divulge that one of my interests has long been to find an obvious and defensible periodisation of the Reconquista, but I believe it to be too lengthy a "conflict" to be covered in the same way the Hundred Years' War is. There was a constant idealogy of Reconquista in Christian Iberia and over time this led to the reconquest of all of Iberia which had come under Muslim control, but this is a process more like the democratisation of government in England, in my opinion, than like a long war. All this said, the Reconquista article needs much more attention than just the addition an infobox. Srnec 04:47, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, the recent edit you made to John McCain has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
