With all the work on Indian Cinema it is appalling that India's most artistically refined quadrant has been so sorely neglected. I hope others can help me in my (projected) months-long work on this page. I would use the Hollywood page as a template.--LordSuryaofShropshire 15:55, Aug 30, 2004 (UTC)

Corrections

[edit]

removed some incorrect information. tollywood is the official name of the telegu film industry, not the bengali film industry in kolkata.

biased and citation needed

[edit]

The article is biased according to me. 1. Wikipedia should make comments like "Those kind of actors (Dev, Jeet, Hiran, Koel, Srabanti) are a big joke for art of cinema". This is against the 'neutrality; standing of the website. 2. Also while making propagandist comments like this "For the first time avant garde Bengali literature i.e. Hungry generation movement of 1960s was incorporated into mainstream cinema by director Srijit Mukherji in his film Baishe Srabon wherein famous film director Gautam Ghose portrayed the role of a Hungryalist poet." there should some authorative citation of the fact that would anchor the point. Moreover, it is not a important fact considering magnanimity of the topic CINEMA OF BENGAL and utter personal advertisement of a living person currently active in cinema. 3. This claim: "Quite a few films are gathering international acclaim for the same" requires at least one example. 4. The language, grammar, punctuation is unclear here: 5. "Now after 2000 their rise another group of actor (Jeet, Dev, Parambrata, Rudranil), actress(Koel Mallik), (Srabanti Chatterjee), Directors Anjan Dutta, Sekhar Das, Aniruddha Roychodhury, Koushik Ganguly, Atanu Ghosh, Srijit Mukherji, Raj Chakrobarty, Musicians (Jeet Ganguly). The latest films by Raj Chakroborty, Jeet Ganguly, Dev, Jeet, Koel are undoubtedly big hits, but they lack the quality of cinema, acting capability as an art and is mostly catered in view of the rural audience." Citation Required: "Soumitra Chatterjee...was considered as a rival to Uttam Kumar in the 1960s" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.194.245.76 (talk) 12:13, 31 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Unsourced material

[edit]

I see that an editor has removed quite a bit of unsourced material. I would support this effort and ask that going forward, if citations can be included with any material that is added. Thank you, --Malerooster (talk) 19:21, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
