Does anyone know if it would be okay to include an image of an actual postage stamp, or is it inappropriate because the design is copyright Royal Mail? Brandenburg5 01:25, 20 Jul 2004 (UTC)

They're probably copyright of RM although you could argue fair use. In any case, we already have a perfectly good image of the Machin postage head without the extraneous value! -- Arwel 10:39, 20 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Arwel, you have forgotten to mention that Arnold Machin's portrait of Queen Elizabeth II was used on 2 sets of pre-decimal coinage - Rhodesia (1964-68) & Gambia (1966-70). See my article Coins of Rhodesia for more information. - (Aidan Work 00:49, 17 November 2005 (UTC))[reply]

The image Image:Machind.jpg is used in this article under a claim of fair use, but it does not have an adequate explanation for why it meets the requirements for such images when used here. In particular, for each page the image is used on, it must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for the use in this article.
  • That this article is linked to from the image description page.
