More information is presumably available in the following magazine article:

Zygmuntowicz, S. "From Strad to Slava: Mstislav Rostropovich's 1711 Duport Strad." Strad, 108, 1290 (October 1997): 1074 ff.

Cleanup

[edit]

This article is definitely not the caliber of a well-written Wikipedia article. Eddiejensen 01:56, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, Vuillaume has his own article, so no need here for fiddle factory fluff. Chris the speller 15:11, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Good try at expanding it, but it's more on Vuillaume than on this cello. Nazroon 16:27, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Value

[edit]

The $20M is in error. See this article, which first gives the $20M sale price but then provides a correction saying that Mstislav Rostropovich's heirs still own the Duport. http://www.nysun.com/arts/rare-cello-expected-to-set-world-record-at-auction/83553/
