These are intended to be private notes. But obviously they're not really. ;-)

[edit]

This is an effort to express current policy regarding images and copyright in as plain a manner as possible. Don’t treat this as official yet.

Options

[edit]

Acceptable ways to upload an image. These are in order of preference from best to worst.

  1. Public-domain, or copyrighted and GFDL.
  2. Copyrighted, with written permission from owner to place it under the GFDL.
  3. Copyrighted, with non-exclusive license from owner to use non-commercially.*
  4. Copyrighted, with specific written permission from owner to use non-commercially.*
  5. Copyrighted, with written permission from owner to use with Wikipedia only.*
  6. Copyrighted, with detailed fair-use claim written by uploader.*

*Note that these options currently require lying on the upload form, which doesn’t permit an upload unless the uploader has checked a box saying that the image is licensed under the GFDL.

Markup squad

[edit]

I would like to propose Wikipedia:Markup squad as a place for gathering links to pages that need their markup cleaned up, particularly pages that are using HTML table markup instead of MediaWiki table markup.

Maybe that's too anal.

I've just proposed Wikipedia:Table Squad on Wikipedia talk:Cleanup today. —LarryGilbert 19:05, 2004 Apr 24 (UTC)
