Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Block evasion by User:Unkownsolidier, using IPs from Greece. Binksternet (talk) 16:58, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    User(s) blocked. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 19:38, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: He is a contentious topic thus this article is vulnerable to a lot of unsourced speculation sillygirly97 (talk) 17:51, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Aoidh (talk) 17:52, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Recent rash of IP editing to add claims that article subject promotes slavery. Example from 24 July: <https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Kinjil_Mathur&diff=1236456394&oldid=1236455520>. Geoff | Who, me? 21:05, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 3 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Aoidh (talk) 22:32, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Reason: Racist vandalism Kowal2701 (talk) 21:08, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: insufficient vandalism to justify an increase to ECP (page is already semi'd). Elli (talk | contribs) 22:04, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – This article covers an obviously highly controversial topic. The talk page even has a Arab-Israeli Arbitration Enforcement template yet the article itself has no protection. ―Howard🌽33 21:11, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Reason: WP:ARBPIA 69.118.230.235 (talk) 21:22, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Severe IP address vandalism and BLP violation. 🛧Midori No Sora♪🛪 ( ☁=☁=✈) 21:26, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Aoidh (talk) 22:22, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Edit warring by IPs to remove content that doesn't paint the college in a postive light. This has been going on for quite a while, see Talk:Bryant_&_Stratton_College/Archive_2#For-profit_status. IP has stated they will continue edit warring here. This article has been semi-protected several times before due to SPA activity, most recently in Jan 2023 for 3 months. MrOllie (talk) 21:44, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content – Addition of unsourced content by IP users. Telenovelafan215 (talk) 22:00, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Aoidh (talk) 22:21, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: I have misused the name of this page by people who like to create pages they have nothing to do with, without understanding anything about the rules of free Wikipedia, we ask that the barrier "This page is now protected" be removed and we cooperate with people who Expert Wikipedia creator. We strongly request that our proposal be accepted. 192.145.175.192 (talk) 07:41, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Who are 'we'? An organisation of some kind? -- Malcolmxl5 (talk) 10:47, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Note, it's been a socky topic according to the AFD last month. Zinnober9 (talk) 15:06, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not unprotected – Previously deleted attempts at creating this article are adequate reason for protection. Furthermore, the OP belongs to a range that has been mentioned in WP:Sockpuppet investigations/Abdiaziizho. Favonian (talk) 18:16, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Page protection is not necessary here because this is an ongoing lawsuit and one side is attempting to make fact of ongoing proceedings in a biased manner. This needs to be removed so that actual fact can be cited through court rulings. Barbeach23 (talk) 15:19, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

We don't cite court rulings here (gov't document). We would need to cite newspapers that report about those rulings. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 15:45, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

+1 Reason: There is no need to protect this page. Changes are being made to the page by one of the parties to the ongoing lawsuit that are advantageous and biased. These modifications need to be removed and that cannot be done while the page is protected. Barbeach23 (talk) 19:40, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined Did you ask Lectonar, who just protected it today? I think a one-week protection is appropriate and you can discuss changes on the talk page. – Muboshgu (talk) 19:47, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

I wish to contest the following line in the article: "Cheatle also acknowledged that the Secret Service had rebuffed requests for additional resources for Trump's security detail in the two years leading up to the assassination attempt." First, this line has no footnotes to reference it's origin. Looking through the sites linked in the footnotes previous to this line and the line following it, nothing indicates the veracity of that statement. Instead, one can see lawmakers trying to infer this conclusion during her Congressional testimony regarding the attempted assassination of former President Trump, while she denies it. 2601:547:CA01:3C4E:8BC:6A39:2650:79D4 (talk) 09:27, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Done I have reworded those sentences to conform with the sources. Daniel Case (talk) 20:29, 24 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
