Non-notable. - Ta bu shi da yu 04:16, 26 Nov 2004 (UTC)

  • You know, apparently, Hokie Bird has been national mascot champion more than once. There are even "Hokie Bird" wines. There's a Hokie Bird children's book. Keep the bird. Dr Zen 04:21, 26 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Delete, mascottes are not notable --fvw* 04:45, 2004 Nov 26 (UTC)
  • Delete: Just a mascot (and Hairy Dog has won more). A mention could well go at Virginia Institute of Technology, but no one knows the bird without knowing the U. Geogre 06:05, 26 Nov 2004 (UTC)

  • Have the merge and redir voters actually looked at the content? It's mostly stuff like "Cool Things The Hokie Bird Can Do...Make 65000 people go crazy just by doing a little dance....Beat up opposing mascots without looking like a hooligan." Delete. Or redirect. If anyone can find anything NPOV and encyclopedic in the current content, feel free to merge into Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, while de-linking "Hokie Bird". "Hello Hokie Bird" has an amazon rank of 770,233, is not stocked, and is published by "Mascot Books". Niteowlneils 15:49, 26 Nov 2004 (UTC)
    • I suppose I should have said "Merge coherent, useful content and redirect". ;) [[User:Meelar|Meelar (talk)]] 19:11, Nov 27, 2004 (UTC)
  • Merge useful content and redirect. In it's current form this is a promotion, but it does contain some useful info... --209.94.128.82 19:59, 29 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Merge and redirect. [[User:GRider|GRider\talk]] 23:23, 1 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Misrepresentation

[edit]

Author of this article writes that "contrary to belief/misinformation" the Hokie bird is not a castrated turkey, but then cites Webster's Dictionary stating that a hokie is, in fact, a castrated/emasculated turkey. This language is misleading and needs to be revised. Brianfredieu 15:10, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
