I put this up, but was not logged it, I kick myself

Title

[edit]

Why 'Giskard Reventlov'. Isn't the full name of all robots, by convention, initialised by 'R.'? Even though Daneel Olivaw by this name, isn't his full name 'R. Daneel Olivaw'. In short, I think we should move this article to R. Giskard Reventlov. Iñgólemo←• 04:05, 2004 Sep 9 (UTC)

I'm against the move. The R. (for 'robot') is an honorific; it's not part of the name and should therefore not be part of the article title. We do have such titles as Mr. Spock and Doctor Who, but that's because these characters don't have proper first names—their honorifics are used as if they were names. This is not the case with Asimov's robots.

That having been said, it's clear from the Asimov books that both Earth and Spacer cultures indicate the initial "R." to mean that the individual so named is a robot. It's not an honorific particularly if one considers the low opinion Earthpeople have of robots generally. --24.80.119.229 05:57, 1 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Powers

[edit]

The text mentions his "almost magical" powers, and the last sentence uses the word telepathy, but his abilities are not actually defined in the article. I'm not familiar with the character so I can't fill it in myself, can someone add some details? Noclevername 18:05, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
