Economy

[edit]

Hello @Magnolia677: How is livestock tick management and the use of chemicals not relevant to this county's economy? Or is this just a continuation of this problem [1] [2]? Invasive Spices (talk) 9 September 2022 (UTC)

@Invasive Spices, while @Magnolia677's comment may be lacking and bordering flippant, I do find that they are correct.
Magnolia677 was correct in removing your entry on the Economy in the Starr County, Texas article. The section in the Economy gets too specific about one subject while there is nothing else about the economy the county. I am guilty of having done that as well. I would have focused on building an Economy section with general information and then added more specific events on how it affects their economies. I do not however think that the information is irrelevant or out of scope.
What I would have said is while permethrin resistance in Cattle Fever Ticks may be having an effect on their economy it does not actually articulate that in what was written. It is only about a event. This is a good start but I would encourage you to continue with it and make the connection to how it is affecting Starr County's economy. What article support this? Looking over your edits I appreciate the work you are doing and encourage you to continue. Anyway I hope this is a more useful critique to you in your work on this page and I hope this is helpful to Magnolia677 as well in their future critiques. @Myotus: Stop insulting me and stop including me in your pedantic narratives entitled "What I would have said is...". It is unwelcome and harassing. Magnolia677 (talk) 17:34, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please treat your critiques with more thoughtfulness of what the problem actual is and treat editors with more respect. Myotus (talk) 17:45, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • I will endeavor to spell out the economic impact of things. I just want to note again that because Wikipedia is a wiki, waiting until we have a finished product is not desirable or possible. Magnolia677 adding further economic information so we have a more rounded Economics section would have been welcome. Invasive Spices (talk) 9 September 2022 (UTC)
@Invasive Spices: Do you really expect other editors to do a bunch of research and create an entire paragraph or two just so your edit doesn't appear so wildly off topic? That isn't going to happen, and even if it did, it wouldn't solve the problem. Magnolia677 (talk) 18:58, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
