Wrong data

[edit]

Most Wiki articles on dogs get their data from the race standard (or articles that do) but as any dog owner would know they are often very wrong. Judges often judge on size so in the case of the Australian Terrier the size and weight is way wrong. I personally know three professional breeders and the average weight is approx. 30-50% higher than the race standard says even though these are breeders trying to get back to race standard. Most bitches are 8-10 kilos and I have never seen a "~6.5 kilograms" Australian Terrier no matter the gender. But the question is do Wiki show "race standard" or "real life standard" on dogs? Finding sources on both is easy but the breed standard is of course mentioned the most, even though it is wrong. I'm not sure what the best approach to fix this is without having to add multiple viewpoints to all dog articles. Thoughts?

Australian terrier or?

Possible issue with having this article and Australian silky terrier article? SatuSuro 14:20, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What would the issue be? They are described as different breeds in the Australian silky terrier article.--Hafwyn (talk) 18:52, 8 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removed 'Aussie terrier named Harriet' from the caption of corresponding picture; re-captione dto 'Young Australian Terrier' as more appropriate (versus 'Aussie'), and really, no one cares of the dog's name.65.215.94.13 (talk) 17:14, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

See Also "They are not cuddly nor are they friendly". This information has no citation and there are or will be issues arising with this statement and cannot be considered a "true" statement regarding the temperament of the Aussie i.e., the Australian Terrier on the Australian website states that they are good with children and are great family dogs and are very loyal! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.168.209.195 (talk) 05:58, 17 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with the above comment, and have removed the statement. There was also no reference to it in the assigned footnote. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chuck in MA (talkcontribs) 17:44, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Needs health and care sections. More pictures would be nice. Needs imperial measurement conversions. All sections will benefit from expansion. --Pharaoh Hound (talk) 20:07, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
