A page for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets already exists, as linked to in the article already. That page is consistent with the naming practice for the other Harry Potter pages (frex: Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone), and is already linked to by a number of other Harry Potter pages (frex: Harry Potter). Are there any objections to merging this article onto that page and turning this page into a redirect? Justin Bacon 06:34, 18 Aug 2003 (UTC)

This sounds like a good idea to me. -- Someone else 06:42, 18 Aug 2003 (UTC)
This page is about the Chamber of Secrets, not Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. Did you even read the page? By your logic we should erase the page on the philosepher's stone and redirect it to Harry Potter and the Philosepher's Stone. -- User:12.203.10.240
Yes, and there's no need for a link to every place mentioned in Harry Potter. Do you ever read your talk page? It would be nice if you got a user name and sign your comments, as well (use three or four tildes: ~~~~), as it would facilitate communication. You're creating a problem by making so many short articles. -- Someone else 07:32, 18 Aug 2003 (UTC)
True, but the Chamber of Secrets is really important and this article is really long. Yes, I do read my talk page. Why else do you think I merged the Ministry of Magic and the Department of Mysteries. --User:12.203.10.240
The good sense that would tell you that the article on the Chamber of Secrets shouldn't be longer than the article on the book in which it appears, I would suppose. No one here can read your mind: if you never respond to comments on your talk page, no one can discern that you've read them. -- Someone else 07:43, 18 Aug 2003 (UTC)
I didn't write the article on Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. If I had, it would have been longer than this one.

Well, what threw me was: (A) The majority of this article is a plot summary of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets; and (b) Your opening paragraph notes that "Chamber of Secrets" is also an alternate title for the book. Is there any reason you feel that this article cannot (or should not) be integrated with the article describing the book itself? Justin Bacon 08:29, 18 Aug 2003 (UTC)

If this were a plot summery, it would also mention Dobby, the Polyjuice Potion and it would start when Harry was with the Dursleys, not with Salazar Slytherin. It would mention the facts as Harry found them out, rather than the order they occured. The Order of the Phoenix page also stats that the "The Order of the Pheonix" is an alternitive title for Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix.

Good point. The distinction, for me, is that the Order of the Phoenix has appeared and been referenced in multiple volumes of the series. The Chamber of Secrets has appeared once in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and has, essentially, never been mentioned again. The overwhelming community response appears to be that you have far too many articles referencing Harry Potter. I think you're beginning to run a very real danger at this point that other people are simply going to become fed up with the situation and begin editing or deleting what you've written. You're clearly very passionate about this, and you want a plot synopsis on the Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets page. So I suggest that you transfer this material to that page, add whatever elements you feel are necessary to make it complete, and then change this into a redirect page. Justin Bacon 08:57, 18 Aug 2003 (UTC)

That's not true. The Order of the Pheonix never appeared before Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix. Yes, Dumbledore was recreating it at the end of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. But the words "Order of the Pheonix" didn't appear once, and it must have existed for less than two chapters. I couldn't just "transfer this material to that page, add whatever elements you feel are necessary to make it complete, and then change this into a redirect page." There is alot more needed and everything would need to be rearanged. It would hardly be a starting point. "You're clearly very passionate about this" It took a lot of work to write these articles.

I'm not really interested in being sucked into a tangential debate regarding the contents of the Harry Potter books. I'm going to let this top rest for a day or two. If the situation hasn't changed and no one else has spoken up in opposition to the change, I'm going to integrate the articles and perform the re-direct. If you can offer some explanation for why the articles should not be integrated before then, please do so. But, like I said, I'm not interested in being drawn off onto tangential debates. Justin Bacon 09:11, 18 Aug 2003 (UTC)

I already have. A descibtion of the Chamber of Secrets and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets are not the same. I agree about stopping the argument.

Simple question. Does the Chamber of Secrets have any life outside of the book/film Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, yes or no? Mintguy 09:20, 18 Aug 2003 (UTC)

No, not yet anyway. Things rarely disappear and never come back in the Harry Potter books. Dobby was featured in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. He didn't show up in the next book, but he did come up agian. It is tangible(though I will admit, not likely) that the Chamber of Secrets could crop up again. Of course, it was also likly that Lockhart would never show up again, but he did.

I admit, I wouldn't mind if this page was transfered to the Hogwarts page. But, the page for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets isn't a good place to put it. User 12.203.10.240

OK. That seems like a reasonable compromise. Justin Bacon 16:16, 18 Aug 2003 (UTC)

I am redirecting both Chamber of Secrets and The Chamber of Secrets to Hogwarts, since (a) the Chamber of Secrets is part of Hogwarts, so it makes logical sense, (b) most of the content of The Chamber of Secrets was merged into the Hogwarts article, so it makes sense in understanding the history of that article, and (c) it was agreed above that The Chamber of Secrets would be redirected to Hogwarts, and it makes no sense for each to redirect to a different place. -- Oliver P. 01:20, 17 Sep 2003 (UTC)
