  • The Wikimedia Australia committee and members are very sorry to hear of the passing of one of our own, Wikipedian Craig Franklin -- User:Lankiveil. Craig was a long-time contributor to Wikipedia projects from 2004. Craig's first edit was to create the page Lagumot Harris for the former President of Nauru. Craig mainly contributed to English Wikipedia though he also contributed widely to other projects as well. Craig first joined the Wikimedia Australia committee in 2010 as Treasurer, becoming President in 2013. He was always willing to provide his experience to the committee. Craig was instrumental in establishing a relationship between Wikimedia Australia and the State Library of Queensland, where he would later take on a Wikipedian-in-Residence role. He will be dearly missed. Our thoughts are with his family. Pru.mitchell (talk) 21:10, 16 April 2018 (UTC) President, Wikimedia Australia[reply]
  • Thank you for everything you've done for the Wikimedia movement over the years. I'm sad that you've left us so soon, and so unexpectedly. Mike Peel (talk) 22:31, 16 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

“We were deeply shocked and saddened to learn the news of Craig's passing.
“Craig joined the group of privacy ombudspeople for the Wikimedia projects in February 2017. With his firm commitment to protect the users of our sites, his readiness to dive into the matters pending before us, and his great good humor, he was enthusiastically received by his colleagues. Craig would regularly take a lead role on managing our caseload, which he handled with diligence, good judgment and distinguished ability. Discussions with him were always exhilarating and rewarding. He welcomed differing views, and had the rare quality of being not only able to convince others, but also to let them convince him. He strived for compromise even in the face of profound differences. Unsurprisingly to anyone who has had a chance to work with him, Craig was reappointed to the Commission this year.
“We owe him our deepest gratitude for his work, which was and continues to be an inspiration to all of us. He will be greatly missed.”

  • Our paths never crossed, yet I still feel the loss of someone who shared a common interest, and gave so generously of his time. My sincerest condolensces to his loved ones. The name Lankiveil will be remembered by many because of who it represented. Atsme📞📧 19:49, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • While I have never encountered you personally, I wish to express my heartfelt condolences to Craig's family, friends, and all those who knew him. To those left behind: Despite this being a difficult time, please do remember that you are not alone. If you need someone to talk to, reach out. Get the help that you need (if that is the case). No one would think any less of you. My condolences go especially to his unborn son who will not get to meet his father. As others have said but I feel necessary to reiterate, you will be missed. I wish everyone the best. Godspeed Craig, godspeed. --TheSandDoctor Talk 07:21, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for fully protecting the user page Primefac, I agree that that is the most effective way to prevent any possible vandalism and to preserve the page content. --TheSandDoctor Talk 07:23, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Only just found out about this. Really am shocked to hear this. May you rest in peace Craig, and that you for your work here, particularly saving an article I created, Lilah Parsons from deletion. Class455 (talk|stand clear of the doors!) 09:27, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Protected edit request on 13 May 2018[edit]

First, RIP. Second, my edit request is that you change the administrator infobox to say that he's a former administrator, which is what he is now (his account was desysopped shortly after his death, as usual in cases like this). Every morning (there's a halo...) 18:41, 13 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not done no need for this @Everymorning:. The categories have already been removed, and there is a clear banner on the top of the page this this account is RIP. — xaosflux Talk 15:50, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
