Causes of Obesity (opinion)

[edit]

People are fat because they eat too many calories.

First of all, the human body needs calories to maintain its well being, its status quo. Secondly, the human body needs calories to grow new muscle, nerve and bone tissue in order to be stronger. Thirdly, the human body needs calories to refill its storage facvities in order to insure a constant availability of calories.

The human body does not need to take in calories in excess of its needs even though the mind wants to eat.

Obesity is like alcoholism in that the fat people have this compulsion to eat as the alcoholic has the compulsion to drink alcohol. Some alcohol is beneficial as evidenced by the healthy effects of drinking red wine, but alcoholism produces a totally different type of consumption.

Similarly, eating prevents starvation and wasting away. It is far necessary to take in calories to prevent starvation then to drink wine to prevent heart disease. But eating oneself into obesity is as detrimental as alcoholism.
