Quote significance

[edit]

What is the significance or humour of this quote:

Famous quote, re actress Norma Shearer: "She has such pretty little eyes. And they're so close together!" --Menchi 23:12 25 Jul 2003 (UTC)
It appears to be a compliment, about her nice eyes. But it has a sting in the tail. People with eyes close together are usually regarded with some suspicion. SteveCrook 22:53, 13 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Husband

[edit]

The link to her husband links to the wrong Patrick Campbell. She wasn't married to the broadcaster. There is no Wiki entry for her husband, he wasn't very famous. SteveCrook 22:56, 13 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Mrs or Mrs.

[edit]

I don't get it, why is her name always listed as Mrs with no period? Is that her actual name?

See the article on Mrs. - In the United Kingdom, most Commonwealth countries, and Ireland, a full stop (period) does not usually follow the abbreviated form: "Mrs Price". In the U.S. a period is almost always used: "Mrs. Jones". -- SteveCrook 01:22, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Margot Schneider

[edit]

Um...I don't believe Stella Campbell was born "Margot Schneider." I've read her biography several times and as there is no citation on the page that verifies this information, this entry has been vandalized. NoirFemme 01:17, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mrs. Campbell was not 'infamous for her sharp wit'. The word 'infamous' means 'of ill fame, notoriously vile, abominable'. Words such as 'famous', 'well known' or 'notorious' would be better, depending one whether one approves of, is neutral to, or disapproves of her sharp wit.
