"Situation" vs. "situational"

[edit]

Maybe this is a national difference, but I remember clearly that in the 1950's and later (until "sitcom" took over completely) in the U.S. the name was "situation comedy", not "situational comedy". I added that to the article. I don't have a source, but there is no source anyway, so it's just as well justified as "situational comedy". Zaslav (talk) 06:30, 10 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A quick Google search for definitions turns up definitions of "situation comedy" (Cambridge English Dictionary, for example) but not for "situational comedy". I believe "-al" is a historical error and should be changed. (By my personal experience, for what it's worth, "-al" seems to be believed by young people who were not around when the term was widely used.) Zaslav (talk) 06:33, 10 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

WP-CITEKILL Cleanup

[edit]

Reduced 16 citations in a flagged sentence to two by finding external summaries of the sourcing (critic reviews, awards & noms) from credible sources (IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes). Minor sentence cleanup as well. Removed CITEKILL flag following the cleanup. Technutt (talk) 20:47, 1 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
